Thuraya SO 2510
Release year: 2006
The Thuraya SO-2510 offers exclusively satellite services in a telephone that is compact and lightweight like a GSM cellphone. The Thuraya SO-2510 is a rugged and dynamic phone designed for high performance in the most extreme situations and in any location. It is a phone that combines within it two cutting-edge technologies: Satellite and GPS. GSM technology, which is present in all traditional cellphones, has extended coverage, but not total coverage, in fact it is not able to receive signals on the high seas or where there is no repeater station nearby. Satellite technology via the Thuraya satellite makes up for all the signal gaps of the GSM cellular network, allowing the user to receive and make calls even in high mountains or in the middle of the desert. The phone also integrates the GPS function so that at any moment it is possible to know one's own position in terms of Longitude and Latitude and to be able to send it via SMS to rescuers or anyone else.
