Toshiba G450 review

Network and connections
An absolutely unique and innovative phone offered by Toshiba. The G450 is equipped with GSM Triband support, to work on the frequencies of 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. It can also take advantage of Dual Mode, to use the UMTS network as well. This way, signal coverage is guaranteed in any situation. The special feature of this phone is that it has support for HSDPA data traffic, with speeds comparable to home ADSL. However, the G450 does not have a browser for Internet browsing, but it can be used as a modem for a computer, thanks to the USB 2.0 port. It has neither Wi-Fi connectivity nor Bluetooth.

Design and features

The most striking aspect of the Toshiba G450 is definitely its outward appearance. Something halfway between an mp3 player and a USB flash drive. Compact, lightweight and absolutely pocketable. It is 16 mm thick, while it weighs only 57 grams. The outer surface is almost entirely made of rubberized material, to ensure sturdiness and durability, as well as excellent grip when held. Some inserts, on the other hand, color the cover with bright colors. The small monochrome OLED screen has a resolution of 93x39 pixels, but it is capable of displaying all the basic information needed to operate the device. Inside the sales package you will find the earphones and the USB data cable.

Main features
The operations this phone allows are fairly limited. The platform is proprietary and offers easy and intuitive menu navigation. Everything can be managed through the function keys located on the sides of the device, which also allow immediate access to writing SMS with T9 and to the contacts list. However, it is not possible to send or receive MMS and E-mail. The distinctive feature lies in the U-Disk mode, which turns the G450 into a USB flash drive with Plug&Play installation on the PC, from which a menu will open allowing you to choose the type of operation to perform: modem for Internet browsing or memory disk. There is a built-in speakerphone, with good audio quality. There is also a calculator and an alarm clock.

Entertainment and multimedia

The entertainment section is not very complete in this Toshiba phone. In fact, it turns out to be absolutely scarce, but nevertheless this phone's capabilities are far removed from taking photos or playing videos. The G450 does, however, perform well as an mp3 player. It can only rely on limited memory, though, with its 160 MB built in; no expansion option via memory cards is provided. The 600 mAh lithium battery also ensures good battery life, 200 hours in Stand-by.
