TIM Series Z Black review
Network and connections
A collaboration between Sagem and TIM gives birth to this Series Z Black, a complete phone that still maintains an affordable price. The network receiver is GSM Triband, able to work on 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequencies. Signal quality is good in any condition. As for wireless, you can use Bluetooth to exchange files with other compatible devices. There is also a USB 2.0 data cable output, so you can also sync with your home PC. Internet connection, on the other hand, is guaranteed by the internal modem, with GPRS packet traffic management. The dedicated WAP browser then allows pages to be displayed.
Design and features
The lines are simple but still carefully designed. To the touch the sensation is immediately pleasant, since the covers are coated with a rubbery material that increases comfort and grip security. On the front there is a TFT display with 262,000 colors. The body opens with a vertical sliding movement, which reveals a standard alphanumeric keypad inside. A clickable directional pad allows you to comfortably manage content, along with the function keys. The dimensions are good, with a thickness of 14 mm and a weight of just 95 grams. The sales package contains the essentials: charger, user manual and the handy earphones.
Main features
You can't expect top-level performance from a low-end phone. However, the basic features are complete and practical to use. Starting with the contacts address book, or the agenda for organizing your appointments, the calendar and the alarm clock. There are also the calculator and the currency converter. For the voice sector, you can instead count on the built-in speakerphone, the voice recorder and multi-conference support. Writing messages is convenient, so you can manage SMS and multimedia messages at their best. The proprietary platform, as already mentioned, doesn't leave room for major expansions, although Java support allows you to install small compatible utilities.
Entertainment and multimedia
One point in favor of this device is definitely its musical functionality. In fact, it works well as an mp3 player, so you can always have your favorite music at hand. The internal memory can be easily expanded via microSD type cards. There is also a camera with a resolution of 1.3 megapixels. Image quality is not amazing, but it's still possible to take a few photos or record short videos when needed, also counting on the Zoom and self-timer functions. The 680 mAh battery also guarantees good autonomy: up to 300 hours in Stand-by.
