Telit B-kini review
Network and connections
An interesting device offered by the Telit company, certainly not as famous as the giants of the cellular market, but still able to offer valid alternatives on the market. The B-Kini is a GSM Triband, on frequencies of 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. Network coverage is excellent in any condition, even though UMTS support is missing. It is still possible to browse the Web thanks to the internal modem with GPRS data traffic management. The WAP browser can thus easily open Internet pages. Bluetooth is missing, but it remains possible to connect to the home PC via USB cable.
Design and features
The exterior look of this Telit B-Kini is simple, but thanks to the black and white coloring it knows how to stand out in any context. The lines are cut decisively, with slight rounding on the edges to offer greater ergonomics in grip. The casing is not a monoblock, but rather opens up in a clamshell style. Inside is therefore the screen, a TFT 176x220 pixel, capable of displaying up to 256,000 colors. In the lower part, however, is the keyboard, which recalls that of the Motorola V3. It has well-arranged keys that are comfortable to use. The dimensions remain compact, with 21.5 mm thickness and a weight of 109 grams. In the purchase package there are earphones, the data cable and a handy 128 MB memory card.
Main features
The proprietary platform doesn't compete with the famous Symbian ones, but it proves valid for its complete yet simple applications. Contact list, organizer for appointments, alarm clock, calculator and stopwatch: nothing is missing at all. Java support also allows installing small utilities to meet personal needs. Writing messages is simple, aided by predictive text. So SMS, MMS and E-mail can be sent without problems. The real peculiarity, however, lies in the support for dual SIM, which allows simultaneously using two phone numbers on the same device. The voice sector, on the other hand, offers the voice recorder, speakerphone and support for multi-conferencing.
Entertainment and multimedia
Also complete from a multimedia point of view, the B-Kini allows taking photographs via the dedicated camera, with a resolution of 1.3 megapixels. With it, you can also record short videos. The available memory is expandable via microSD cards, so you can always carry your favorite music and video files with you, to be played back with the dedicated multimedia player. There is also an antenna for receiving AM/FM radio broadcasts.
