T-Mobile Pulse review
Network and connections
T-Mobile is launching a handset equipped with the Android platform onto the market. The novelty, however, lies in the collaboration with Huawei. The Pulse is in fact the Chinese company's model 8220. The network receiver is a GSM Quadband, on frequencies of 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. Signal coverage is optimal in any condition, also thanks to UMTS support. To browse the Internet there is an internal modem with GPRS and EDGE technology. The HTML browser will therefore be able to correctly display Web pages. It is also possible to take advantage of distributed networks, thanks to the presence of the Wi-Fi antenna. There is also the convenient Bluetooth for data transfer, as well as USB support.
Design and features
The clean and refined style gives the Pulse an elegant air. The edges are rounded to guarantee an optimal grip in any situation. The dimensions remain compact, with a thickness of 13.5 mm and a weight of 130 grams. The front houses the display, a TFT screen measuring a full 3.5 inches, capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors. It is also equipped with Capacitive Touch Screen technology, for an even more precise touch when managing your device. Just below is a handy trackball, along with two keys for managing calls.
Main features
As already mentioned, the platform with which the Pulse is equipped comes from Google. Android offers readiness for enjoying multimedia content, immediately supporting YouTube, Facebook, Instant Messaging and Google Maps. Java support also allows you to install software as you wish, in order to better customize your device. The classic management tools are also present, such as the contacts address book, organizer, alarm clock and calculator. With intuitive writing it is possible to quickly compose short messages but also more detailed E-mails. The Office and PDF document readers allow you to view attachments. For phone functions there are speakerphone, voice recorder and video call support.
Entertainment and multimedia
An excellent tool also for leisure time needs. The built-in camera has a resolution of a full 5 megapixels, allowing you to obtain perfect images in any condition, also thanks to dedicated functions. The memory available to the user is expandable via convenient microSD cards. The multimedia player, on the other hand, offers the ability to faithfully play your favorite audio and video files. The GPS receiver is interesting, for integrating satellite functions, for example turning the Pulse into a navigator. Battery life is good, with an autonomy of 300 hours in Stand-by.
