T-Mobile MDA Compact IV review

Network and connections
T-Mobile enters the market with a new successful Smartphone, with truly high-level features and qualities. First of all, this is a GSM Triband device, capable of working on the 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequencies, but that's not all. In fact, thanks to Dual Mode it is also able to take advantage of the UMTS network; in this way, network coverage is truly excellent in every part of the world. Browsing the Internet with the MDA Compact IV is really fast, thanks to packet data transfer via HSDPA. Thanks to the internal modem and the HTML browser, it will therefore be like browsing with ADSL at home. You can also take advantage of shared connections thanks to Wi-Fi support. Bluetooth is also present for exchanging files with other devices, as is the USB 2.0 port.

Design and features
The designers of this device wanted to express a hi-tech concept of elegance, aiming for essential and clean lines. The MDA Compact IV's shell is one-piece, with extremely glossy and shiny surfaces in black color. The upper part gives prominence to the large display, a 2.8-inch LCD capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors. It is fully Touch Screen, allowing extremely easy and fast use of the device. The new TouchFLO 3D technology offers a three-dimensional view of content, for an even more futuristic setting, increasing the possibility of movement in the controls. The dimensions are compact, thanks to a thickness of just 11.5 mm and a weight of 110 grams. In the sales package you can find the stereo headset, the USB cable and a handy protective case.

Main features
The high level of this Smartphone is also shown by the capabilities it offers. The platform is Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional; this leaves ample room for imagination regarding the expansion possibilities of the MDA Compact IV. Furthermore, the processing power is absolutely significant, thanks to the 528 MHz Qualcomm processor, which makes use of 192 MB of RAM. Java support also allows the installation of compatible applications. The voice sector boasts the presence of a speakerphone, with good audio quality, as well as a voice recorder and support for multiconference calls. Furthermore, the dedicated camera allows for video calls. There is no need to dwell on the classic management functions, which here are absolutely complete and advanced. Text writing is easy and immediate; this also makes it possible to conveniently manage E-mail from your own device.

Entertainment and multimedia
Despite being a phone with a Business focus, this T-Mobile doesn't miss out on anything in the entertainment department either. A 3.2 megapixel camera allows you to take good quality photographs thanks also to the Zoom, or even record videos. The memory is not expandable, but the standard 4 GB is definitely enough to hold a large quantity of files. It is thus possible to carry your favorite music with you in various formats, to be played with the dedicated media player. FM radio broadcast support is also included, complete with the RDS function. In addition, you can use the GPS receiver, to use the device as a true satellite navigator. Finally, a note on the battery, a 900 mAh lithium battery that guarantees a duration of up to 285 hours in Stand-by.
