Sony Ericsson Z770 review
Network and connections
This is a GSM Triband device, which therefore supports the 900, 1800, and 1900 Mhz frequencies; it is also able to make use of the UMTS network with support for the 2100 Mhz frequency, for optimal reception anywhere in the world. The Z770i is designed as a tool for surfing the Internet, which is why it features a WAP browser and a built-in modem, while, thanks to HSDPA technology, data transfer is extremely fast, just like home ADSL. There's also the possibility of synchronizing data with other devices, via the USB 2.0 port or Bluetooth wireless technology.
Design and features
The Sony Ericsson Z770i shows off a rather eye-catching design, with a clamshell opening and satin-finished surfaces. This gives it a really good feel to the touch, as well as a good grip thanks to the rounded edges. It has two displays, an internal one of 2.2 inches, with a resolution of 240x320 pixels at 256,000 colors, and a smaller external one, monochrome and 128x36 pixels. The phone's dimensions are compact, 15.5 mm thick for a weight of 92 grams. In the sales package you can only find the headset as an accessory.
Main features
The functions offered by the Z770i are absolutely complete, starting with the telephone ones which include, among others, the built-in speakerphone, vibration, the recorder, and voice commands. There's no shortage of more common functions such as the phonebook for complete contact management, the calendar for appointments, the alarm clock, the stopwatch, and the ability to write notes. As for messaging, the phone supports SMS text messages, multimedia messages, and also E-mail, with support for various clients. When browsing HTML pages, the Pan And Zoom function comes in handy, for zooming in on the areas of greatest interest. Everything can be managed via the mouse's magnetic pointer.
Entertainment and multimedia
The qualities regarding the entertainment segment are also noteworthy. The Z770i is in fact equipped with an external 2 megapixel camera, for a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. The 2.5X Zoom allows you to capture the smallest details. The available memory also allows you to save videos, with a full 32 MB further expandable with Memory Stick M2 cards. The music side is absolutely complete, with a multiformat player for audio and video, as well as an AM/FM receiver for radio stations in RDS. Finally, battery life is satisfactory, about 340 hours in Stand-by.
