Sony Ericsson Z555 review
Network and connections
A Sony Ericsson phone with basic features that are not particularly impressive, but still of good quality for a mid-range segment. The Z555 is in fact equipped with a GSM Triband system, on frequencies of 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. However, UMTS network support is not available. Internet connection is guaranteed by the internal modem and the WAP browser, with GPRS and EDGE protocols for fast data traffic. As for wireless, it does not have Wi-Fi connectivity, although it is possible to exchange files with compatible devices thanks to Bluetooth or the USB 2.0 cable.
Design and features
What stands out most in this phone is certainly its outward appearance. The designers have equipped the clamshell body with particular designs in Diamond style, thus making the appearance absolutely attractive. On the outer part, the raised camera and the holes for the speaker stand out. Below instead is the OLED display of 123x36 pixels. Inside you find the standard numeric keypad, with keys well arranged, in addition to the main screen that displays up to 256,000 colors. The dimensions are quite contained, 95 grams of weight for 16.5 mm of thickness. The sales package is provided with few accessories, although you can find the earphones and the USB cable.
Main features
A complete and functional device must clearly present the most common basic utilities. Indeed, there is no shortage of the advanced phonebook, the organizer synchronized with the calendar to manage personal commitments, the alarm clock and the currency converter. As for the voice channel instead, we can count on hands-free, voice recorder and multiconference support. Furthermore, it is possible to receive and send E-mail, in addition to the simpler SMS and multimedia messages. The Gesture Control feature is worth noting, which allows you to mute a call or activate the snooze of the alarm with a simple wrist movement.
Entertainment and multimedia
An important side of the Sony Ericsson Z555 is certainly its aptitude as a small multimedia device, especially in the musical field. In fact it works as an MP3 player, with support for many other audio and video formats. The available internal memory is scarce, with only 12 MB, but conveniently expandable with a Memory Stick M2 type card. A 1.3 megapixel camera instead allows you to obtain good quality photographs, even though LED Flash is not provided. The 900 mAh lithium battery guarantees good operating autonomy, up to 300 hours in Stand-by.
