Sony Ericsson Z250 review
Network and connections
This is a GSM Triband device, which therefore supports the 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz frequencies. It is not, however, able to make use of UMTS networks. This model is designed to offer complete, albeit basic, functionality. It does not lack the ability to browse the Internet, thanks to the internal GPRS modem and the WAP browser. The USB port allows the device to be connected directly to a home PC, but Bluetooth for wireless data transfers is not present.
Design and features
The Sony Ericsson Z250 shows off a simple, clean design, with a clamshell opening and satin-finished surfaces. This gives it a really nice feel to the touch, as well as a good grip thanks to the rounded edges. Inside you'll find the CSTN display, with a resolution of 128x160 pixels, capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors. The device's dimensions are compact, with a thickness of 19.5 mm for a weight of 90 grams. Inside the retail box, only the earphones can be found as accessories.
Main features
The functions offered by the Z250 are absolutely complete, starting with the phone functions, which include among others the built-in speakerphone, vibration, the recorder and voice commands. There is no shortage of more common functions such as the address book for complete contact management, the calendar for appointments, the alarm clock, the stopwatch and the ability to write notes. As for messaging, the phone supports SMS text messages and MMS multimedia messages, while E-mail cannot be managed.
Entertainment and multimedia
The qualities concerning the entertainment segment are also worth noting. The Z250 is in fact equipped with an external camera with VGA resolution. It allows you to capture images or short videos when needed, without being able to expect particularly high quality, however. The available memory allows you to store 10 MB of data. It's therefore clear that it's impossible to save your favorite music and videos, also lacking a dedicated multimedia player. Finally, battery life is satisfactory, at around 300 hours in Stand-by.
