Sony Ericsson T303I review
Network and connections
A mid-low range phone presented by Sony Ericsson, nonetheless capable of offering good compromises and complete functionality. The receiver is of the GSM Triband type, able to work on the frequencies of 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. Coverage is thus quite good in any condition. However, it is not equipped with UMTS support. Internet connection is guaranteed by the internal modem and the WAP browser, which handle data traffic over GPRS. To exchange files with other devices, it is instead possible to use Bluetooth, or the USB 2.0 cable.
Design and features
The design is compact, with simple but refined lines, also thanks to the satin aluminum surfaces. Inside the body, with vertical sliding opening, is the standard numeric keypad. The front part is instead occupied by the screen, a 1.8-inch TFT, able to display up to 65,000 colors. This has the distinctive feature of being mirrored. Just below, a convenient directional pad allows for better management of menu navigation, along with the function keys. The weight of the T303i is just 93 grams, with a thickness of 14.7 mm. In the sales package, only the earphones can be found as accessories.
Main features
A simple and essential phone, which manages to provide complete management tools in every respect. The contacts phonebook is very spacious, the agenda helps to better manage one's appointments. The alarm clock and calculator are not missing, nor is the currency converter. Writing messages is quick and simple, thanks to T9 support. The platform is proprietary, however Java support allows small utilities to be installed to at least partially customize the device. The voice sector instead offers hands-free, voice recorder and multi-conference support.
Entertainment and multimedia
The sector dedicated to entertainment guarantees the presence of good tools, basic but still useful and interesting. The rear camera has a resolution of 1.3 megapixels, and comes with 4X Zoom but no Flash. The quality of the images is acceptable, for taking photographs when needed. The available memory is only 8 MB, and not even expandable. It should therefore be used sparingly for the most important files. The multimedia player allows music to be played in mp3, or to receive the frequencies of your favorite AM/FM radio broadcasts. The TrackID function is interesting, for receiving information about the song you are listening to. The battery allows for very good operating autonomy, about 400 hours in Stand-by.
