Sony Ericsson R300i Radio review

Network and connections
A simple and essential phone presented by Sony Ericsson. Starting with the technical features, it can immediately be said that the R300i Radio is a GSM Triband device, able to operate on the 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz frequencies. It does not have UMTS mode, however network coverage turns out to be quite good. An internal modem allows connection to the Internet, also thanks to the WAP browser; everything is managed by the GPRS protocol for packet data traffic. Bluetooth is not missing as far as wireless is concerned, nor is the USB 2.0 cable for syncing directly to a PC.

Design and features

The lines of this phone are decidedly classic, rounded off at the edges to give greater comfort when holding the Candybar monoblock structure. The keyboard is essential, with linear keys of minimal design. Above it is the screen, a TFT with a resolution of 128x160 pixels, able to display up to 65,000 colors. The dimensions are also fairly standard, with a thickness of 12 mm and a weight of 75 grams. The sales package includes a travel charger, as well as the earphones and the USB cable.

Main features
The Sony Ericsson R300i Radio, in its simplicity, is fairly complete as far as standard features are concerned. It is in fact equipped with an organizer with alarm synchronization, to better manage appointments. There is also support for writing SMS, multimedia messages and E-mail. The voice aspect consists of a built-in speakerphone, as well as a voice recorder and support for multiconferencing. The platform is proprietary and does not allow for great customization, although Java support allows the installation of handy small-sized applications and utilities.

Entertainment and multimedia
In this area the R300i Radio does quite well, given its features geared towards leisure. From the name alone it can be guessed that the device is equipped with an AM/FM radio receiver, to freely listen to your favorite radio stations. It also features the TrackID function which makes it possible to get information about the songs being listened to. The audio can count on stereo playback through dedicated speakers. Everything can be managed through dedicated keys. On the back there is a 0.3 megapixel camera, which objectively cannot boast excellent photographs, however it can be useful for capturing a special moment. The internal memory is scarce, 8 MB which cannot be expanded further. A positive note for the battery, which with its 900 mAh allows a duration of up to 400 hours in Stand-by.
