Sony Ericsson K610i review

Network and connections

Sony Ericsson K610i is a Tri-Band phone, meaning it can receive and make calls on three different frequency bands: 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz. It is also a Dual mode device, able to interface with the high-speed UMTS network, as well as EDGE and GPRS modes. Also available are Bluetooth and infrared (IrDa) connectivity, along with the USB cable. The screen is very nice.

Design and features

In terms of design, Sony Ericsson K610i is a slim and compact "candybar" device. The antenna integrated into the phone's body, the rounded corners and the comfortable grip make this model a good choice for the average user. The keys are fairly small in size but still functional.

Main features

In call mode, Sony Ericsson K610i offers multiple functions, such as the speakerphone. It is also possible to take advantage of the multiconference function, which allows talking with several users simultaneously. As for messaging, it offers compatibility with all currently available standards: it is in fact possible to receive and send Sms, Ems, Mms and E-mail, each easily composed with the dedicated simplified writing software. Thanks to 3G services, it is also possible to use video messages and make video calls. Finally, there is an alarm clock, a calculator and an organizer. For memory expansion there is a free slot for Memory Stick Micro M2.

Entertainment and multimedia

Sony Ericsson K610i features Java (J2ME) technology for mobile phones, which allows the user to install new content simply by downloading it via the WAP browser. Unfortunately, the phone lacks an AM/FM radio, but it offers an MP3/AAC audio player and an MP4/3GP video player. Sony Ericsson K610i is equipped with a built-in camera with a 2 MegaPixel sensor, for quality images up to 1600x1200 pixels. Unfortunately the flash function is not supported, while self-timer and digital zoom are available. Finally, the device also works as a video camera.
