Sony Ericsson Hazel review
Network and connections
Sony Ericsson is launching a new eco-friendly device, built with recycled or easily recyclable materials. Starting with the technical features, we find the GSM Quadband receiver, on frequencies of 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. This guarantees optimal signal coverage, also thanks to UMTS support. For browsing the Internet, nothing is faster than HSDPA technology, which allows speeds equal to home ADSL. The HTML browser will thus be able to easily open any Web page. In addition, you can take advantage of distributed networks, thanks to the Wi-Fi antenna. Bluetooth and a USB port are also present.
Design and features
The style of this Hazel is interesting, clean, discreet but with a touch that manages to give it something exclusive. The streaks on the back of the body are certainly distinctive. The front, on the other hand, has decisive and simple lines, which clearly define the function keys and the screen. The latter is a 2.6-inch QVGA TFT, capable of displaying up to 16 million colors. The keyboard, on the other hand, is revealed inside, through a vertical Slider opening motion. The keys are all on the same level, separated only by horizontal lines and are in any case comfortable to use. The dimensions are compact, with a thickness of 16 mm and a weight of 120 grams. The Hazel is also resistant to water splashes.
Main features
The proprietary platform is truly convenient and functional, absolutely complete right from the basic configuration. Java support still allows for further customization of content. Support for simplified writing helps a lot with composing text, making it easy to manage SMS, MMS and E-mail. The Office and PDF file readers allow attachments to be viewed correctly as well. You can always stay informed on the latest News, thanks to the RSS Feed reader. The world of online communities is also within reach, with Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, YouTube and Google Maps, as well as Instant Messaging. The Widget interface allows you to organize applications in the best way. The CO2 calculator is interesting. For phone functions, there's speakerphone, voice recorder and video call support.
Entertainment and multimedia
Absolutely complete from a multimedia point of view as well, this Sony Ericsson Hazel offers a 5 megapixel digital camera, for perfect and brilliant images in any condition. You can also record videos, all thanks to functions dedicated to automatic capture. The internal memory is generous, with 280 MB, further expandable via microSD cards up to 16 GB. This way there will be no space problems, so you can carry your favorite audio and video files with you. The dedicated multimedia player will take care of faithful playback. There's also an antenna for receiving AM/FM radio stations. Finally, there's also a satellite navigator, thanks to the built-in GPS receiver. The battery life is remarkable, with a Stand-by autonomy of 450 hours.
