Sony Ericsson Aspen review
Network and connections
A new Eco Friendly model proposed by Sony Ericsson for the GreenHearth line, as always attentive to environmental respect. Starting with the technical features, we can note the GSM Quadband receiver, to guarantee optimal coverage in any area of the world, thanks also to UMTS support. For surfing the Internet, nothing is faster than the HSDPA modem, which allows reaching speeds equal to home ADSL. The dedicated HTML browser will take care of displaying Web pages correctly. Also handy is the Wi-Fi antenna for taking advantage of distributed networks. Bluetooth and USB output are also included.
Design and features
At first sight this Aspen, known in preview at its official launch as Faith, shows a very simple and clean look, with classic shapes and slightly rounded edges to offer greater ergonomics in the grip. As already mentioned, this model is built with recycled material and industrial processes that respect the environment. The front houses the large screen, a 2.4-inch QVGA TFT, capable of displaying up to 16 million colors (65 thousand effective). The Candybar body houses in the lower part the extended QWERTY keyboard, essential for easily composing messages and E-mails. A directional pad is instead useful for controlling operations quickly. Included in the package is a 4 GB microSD.
Main features
The platform version is Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional. It guarantees intuitive and fast navigation, as well as great possibility of customizing content. This is also made possible by Java support. The standard applications, on the other hand, are absolutely complete and functional. With the dedicated keyboard it is really convenient to compose SMS, multimedia messages and E-mails. There is a Document Viewer that allows the correct opening of Office and PDF attachments. Noteworthy is an application themed around GreenHearth, namely the Eco Mate Application. It is also possible to manage Instant Messaging applications. On the voice side, it offers speakerphone, voice recorder and multiconference support.
Entertainment and multimedia
To conclude the description, let's talk about the aspects that concern leisure. The Sony Ericsson Aspen is capable of taking good quality photographs, thanks to the 3.2 megapixel optics which also allows recording short videos. The space available for saving one's data is 100 MB, expandable up to 16 GB. This way it will also be possible to carry audio and video files, to be played back faithfully with the dedicated multimedia player. How can we not mention GPS support, to introduce satellite functions to the device. Here then is the Geo-Tagging function to automatically recognize the place where a photo was taken. Battery life is high, necessary for any device dedicated to business on the move. Excellent battery duration, up to 600 hours in Stand-by.
