Sony Ericsson Aino review
Network and connections
A phone suited to an audience that loves multimedia content on the Web and beyond. The Sony Ericsson Aino is in fact equipped for every type of connectivity, starting with GSM Quadband complete with UMTS support. For browsing the Internet and for data traffic there is the fast HSDPA modem, which allows the browser to easily open HTML pages. In addition, it's possible to take advantage of distributed networks thanks to the Wi-Fi antenna. The handy Bluetooth is also present for exchanging files with other compatible devices. It's also possible to sync with the home PC via USB cable.
Design and features
The design is eye-catching, with black-white contrasting surfaces that give it a fashionable and high-tech look. The structure opens with a vertical Slider movement, so as to close the standard alphanumeric keyboard inside. The front part instead houses the screen, a 3-inch TFT capable of displaying up to 16 million colors. It's also equipped with Capacitive Touch Screen technology, to always keep everything under control with simple finger touches. Another feature of the screen is the accelerometer sensor, for automatic image orientation.
Main features
The proprietary Sony Ericsson platform offers complete functions already in the standard configuration, with address book, organizer, calculator, alarm clock and stopwatch. Java support allows you to best personalize your device, installing compatible software as you wish. But it's the multimedia area that is most fascinating about the Aino. It indeed offers the possibility of always staying in touch with Facebook friends, or watching videos on YouTube, as well as using Instant Messaging programs. There is also a reader for RSS Feeds, so as to always stay updated on the latest News. Managing email is really easy, complete with Office and PDF attachments. The telephone side offers speakerphone, voice recorder and support for video calls.
Entertainment and multimedia
Also interesting is the equipment geared towards leisure, such as the camera with as much as 8.1 megapixels which allows you to take high quality photographs. Digital zoom, LED Flash and dedicated functions such as Picture Editor, Face Detection and red-eye reduction allow for perfect capture in any condition, even while recording videos. The space available for storing your data is large, up to 32 GB via microSD. Your favorite music will therefore always be at hand, to be played through the dedicated media player. There is also a tuner for AM/FM radio stations. Finally, we should mention the presence of the GPS receiver, to integrate satellite functions such as Geo-Tagging and navigation.
