Samsung X820 review
Network and connections
Tri-band is the classification of Samsung SGH-X820, a feature that allows it to connect, through the GSM network, to three different network frequencies: 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz. Data transfer operation relies on EDGE technology, reasonably fast and reliable, in addition to GPRS support. Bluetooth connectivity allows for quick file exchange with compatible devices, and the use of numerous compatible accessories. For synchronization via cable, there is instead a USB port.
Design and features
Samsung SGH-X820 is a mobile phone with a standard or "candybar" design. What positively distinguishes this product is its extremely reduced thickness (only 6.9 mm), as well as its light weight (66 grams). Furthermore, the integrated antenna and the well-finished body, in black color, give it good formal elegance. The evaluation of the display, rather large and well-defined, is very positive.
Main features
Samsung SGH-X820 offers hands-free functionality, usable thanks to the dedicated integrated speaker. It is also equipped with multiconferencing, voice Memo and polyphonic ringtones. This model offers compatibility with all currently available messaging standards: it is in fact possible to send and receive Sms, Mms and E-mail. Each message can be easily composed thanks to the integrated predictive text software (T9). Finally, there are also organizer, alarm clock and calculator functions.
Entertainment and multimedia
Samsung SGH-X820 offers, thanks to support for Java technology (J2ME), extensive support for games and applications, with the possibility of downloading them from the network via the built-in browser. The phone is unfortunately not equipped with an AM/FM radio but offers high compatibility with MP3, AAC, AAC+ music files and with MP4 and 3GP video formats. The base memory is rather large: a full 80 MB. Samsung SGH-X820 also features an integrated camera with a 2 Megapixel sensor. This ensures photographs of remarkable quality and high resolution (up to 1600x1200 pixels). The camera is unfortunately not equipped with flash while it does have digital zoom and self-timer.
