Network and connections
Samsung SGH-X520 is a "Tri-band" GSM phone, capable of operating on the 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz frequencies. Data transfer reliability is ensured by EDGE technology, in addition to basic GPRS. This model, moreover, only offers infrared connectivity (IrDa), besides the dedicated USB port. Battery life is good.
Design and features
Samsung SGH-X520 is a phone with a compact and elegant design, with a "clamshell" opening. This is a very well finished model, pocket-sized and with a contained weight (78 grams). It is a youthful-style model with an integrated antenna that, aesthetically, plays on an appealing combination of matte and glossy effects, on the outside and on the keypad. Also pleasant and sophisticated are the two available colors: "purple blue" and "coral pink". Inside there is a numeric keypad, practical and comfortable, with square-shaped buttons.
Main features
Samsung SGH-X520 is equipped with an integrated speakerphone that can be used during calls. In addition, the new Samsung phone allows the recording of voice memos, although it does not provide voice calling functionality. Since it is not a "Dual mode" phone, unfortunately, it does not offer the user third generation services, such as video calls and video messages. It supports the main messaging formats: in fact it is possible to manage Sms, Mms and E-mail. Writing speed is ensured by the T9 predictive text system. Memory is about 15 MB and is expandable via microSD cards. The phone is also equipped with an alarm function and an internal agenda so as not to miss any appointment. Finally, there are calculator, clock and stopwatch functions.
Entertainment and multimedia
Samsung SGH-X520 offers numerous ringtones, both monophonic and polyphonic, with 40 voices. It is also possible to enjoy ringtones and music tracks in MP3 format. This model is also enhanced by the presence of an integrated AM/FM radio, very useful for passing the time during waits throughout the day. There are also some pre-installed games and, thanks to Java (J2ME) support, it is possible to get new ones, even downloading them from the WAP browser. Integrated into the device is a 0.3 Megapixel VGA camera, capable of reaching a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. This is a low-end device capable of capturing low-resolution photographs, still equipped with a 4x digital zoom, as well as various color effects applicable to images. SGH-X520 can record and play back video sequences.
