Samsung T401G review
Network and connections
A phone launching for the Christmas season, offering technical quality combined with ease of use and adaptability to every type of user. The network receiver is a GSM Quadband, with frequencies of 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. However, UMTS support is missing. But there's no need to worry about browsing the Internet, because there's an internal modem managing GPRS and EDGE data traffic. This way the HTML browser will be able to open any Web page without problems. The Bluetooth is definitely handy for exchanging files with other devices, as is the USB data cable for syncing with your home PC.
Design and features
At first glance the exterior look of the Samsung T401G appears simple and solid. No particular high-tech design touches were used, leaving the body smooth and with sober lines. On the front is the display, a 2.1-inch TFT, capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors. Just below is the standard alphanumeric keypad, along with the directional pad and function keys. Looking more closely at the T401G, however, you notice that the body opens sideways, via a Slider movement. This way the extended QWERTY keyboard is revealed inside. Dimensions are fairly compact, to ensure portability: 17.8 mm thick for 123 grams of weight.
Main features
Already in the standard configuration, the available applications are complete and easy to use. Contact list, organizer, alarm clock, calculator, stopwatch and currency converter are the classic management tools. Java support, however, allows the installation of compatible software, so you can customize the T401G according to your needs. Support for predictive text input allows for quick composition of SMS, MMS and E-mail. In this, the QWERTY keyboard is also very handy. As for phone functions, there's speakerphone, voice recorder and multiconference support.
Entertainment and multimedia
To offer a complete package to the owner of this Samsung, the designers equipped it with everything needed to satisfy leisure moments as well. Hence the digital camera, with a resolution of 1.3 megapixels. Image quality won't be high, but it's sufficient when needed. It's also possible to record short videos. The memory available to the user is expandable via microSD cards up to 16 GB. This way you can always have your favorite audio and video files with you. The media player will handle their playback. Battery life is good, with autonomy of up to 360 hours in Stand-by.
