Network and connections

Samsung SGH-Z140 is a phone belonging to the Tri-Band family, and is therefore able to operate on three different frequencies: 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. It is also a Dual Mode device, with UMTS, EDGE and GPRS connectivity. This ensures complete coverage everywhere and fast data transfer. Also present is Bluetooth wireless technology, which allows the use of wireless peripherals and data exchange with other compatible phones or computers. Samsung SGH-Z240 is finally equipped with a USB port, IrDa, two screens and a 1000 mAh battery.

Design and features

This is a compact model, slightly wider at the top, with a clamshell opening and an ergonomic grip. The dimensions, overall, are average. Specifically, it measures 88 millimeters in height, 48 millimeters in width and 26 millimeters in depth, while the weight is a bit on the high side, a full 105 grams. An important feature is the external display which, rather than being low-resolution and offering few display options, is very good and extensively customizable. The only flaw, but not a small one, concerns the antenna which, bucking the trend of recent models, is external and detracts from the handling of the device.

Main features

Advanced features are present, such as the built-in speakerphone, for comfortable hands-free talking, and voice Memo. Samsung SGH-Z140 is also equipped with an alarm clock, calculator, organizer and currency converter. Moving on to messaging, the phone supports all available standards. With this model it is in fact possible to send and receive SMS, MMS and E-mail, with the T9 simplified writing system. Memory is 44 MB and, unfortunately, cannot be expanded.

Entertainment and multimedia

Samsung SGH-Z140 also offers many opportunities in the field of entertainment and leisure. There is a multimedia player capable of playing MP3/AAC audio files and MP4/3GP video files. The phone also offers polyphonic ringtones, screensavers, Java (J2ME) games and the ability to download new content through the built-in WAP browser. The built-in camera is VGA type, thanks to which it is possible to obtain photographs with a maximum resolution of 640x480 pixels. The device also offers 4x digital zoom and video recording functionality.
