Samsung SGH E700 review
Network and connections
Samsung SGH E700 is a "Dual-band" GSM cellular phone, able to operate on 900 and 1800 Mhz frequencies and equipped with EDGE and GPRStype data connections. This model does not include the use of wireless Bluetooth technology but allows the exchange of small files via the infrared port (IrDa). Unfortunately, USB connection with a computer is not possible. This cell phone is equipped with a double display. The larger of the two, the internal one, is active matrix (TFT), has a size of 128 x 160 pixels and offers 65536 colors. The external one, of the OLED type, instead offers 256 colors and has a resolution of 96 x 64 pixels. Samsung SGH E700 is powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 800 mAh.
Design and features
Samsung SGH E700 is a device with a compact design, with a clamshell opening. It is a thin and lightweight model, elegant in appearance and well finished. The weight is about 86 grams, including the supplied battery. When "closed", its overall dimensions are: 90 millimeters in height, 45 millimeters in width and 23 mm in thickness. The antenna is internal to the body of the phone and therefore does not increase its total dimensions. This model is available in blue and Silver color. Inside there is a numeric keypad, with medium-sized keys; the shape is slightly curved and rounded at the bottom.
Main features
With Samsung SGH E700 you can make "multi-conference" calls; the phone, however, is not equipped with a built-in speakerphone or voice command calling. However, it is possible to record short voice memos. As for messaging, this model supports all the main formats: SMS, EMS, MMS and allows e-mailmanagement. The predictive text input system also makes writing messages easier and speeds up the use of the main functions. Internal memory is 9 MB and, unfortunately, is not expandable via additional cards. Finally, the phone is equipped with alarm clock, calculator and agenda functions so as not to miss important appointments.
Entertainment and multimedia
Samsung SGH E700 is equipped with several polyphonic ringtones, screensavers and Java games (J2ME), with the possibility of downloading new content via the built-in WAP browser. Unfortunately, it is not possible to enjoy melodies in MP3 format or listen to the radio. Built into the device is an integrated VGA camera with 0.3 Megapixel, able to reach a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels, therefore without offering great sharpness. The device is equipped with 5x digital zoom and also includes several color effects applicable to images. Samsung SGH E700, moreover, does not include the possibility of recording and playing video sequences.
