Network and connections
Samsung SGH-D510 is a Tri-Band GSM cell phone, meaning it is able to receive and make phone calls on three different frequencies: 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz. For data traffic, two types of connection are available: EDGE and GPRS. Bluetooth allows the use of wireless peripherals and file exchange with other compatible devices. To connect to a computer, a USB port is also available. The phone features a large front screen: it measures as much as 176x220 dots and offers a TFT matrix with a 262,000 color filter. Battery life is good.
Design and features
In terms of design, Samsung SGH-D510 falls into the range of cell phones with a sliding opening, or "slide-up". The phone's dimensions are compact: it is 96 millimeters long, 46 mm wide and 24 mm thick. The antenna is built-in to the body, for maximum handling. The weight is not particularly low: 100 grams battery included. The keyboard is revealed by sliding the screen upward. It features medium-large alphanumeric keys, as well as the navigation control and quick access keys.
Main features
During a call, Samsung SGH-D510 allows you to take advantage of the speakerphone function, usable thanks to the built-in speaker. The voice multiconference function, on the other hand, allows you to hold a conversation with multiple terminals simultaneously. Thanks to Voice Memo, it is possible to store partial blocks of conversation or save voice notes. Unfortunately, Voice Dial is missing. As for messaging, this phone supports SMS, EMS, MMS and e-mail, each easily composed thanks to the simplified writing software. Finally, alarm clock, calculator and organizer functions are of course included. Memory is 35 MB, expandable via MicroSD.
Entertainment and multimedia
Samsung SGH-D510 offers its users polyphonic ringtones, screensavers and Java (J2ME) games, with the possibility of downloading new content through the built-in WAP browser. The phone unfortunately lacks an AM/FM radio, but it is equipped with an MP3, aac and aac+ music file player, as well as mpeg4 and 3gp formats for video. Samsung SGH-D510 features a camera with a 1.3 Megapixel sensor, capable of capturing fairly good quality photos. A self-timer function is also available, along with digital zoom. Finally, it is possible to record short video sequences.
