Samsung S9110 review
Network and connections
We are about to talk about a decidedly unusual device, one that is slowly paving the way toward new horizons in consumer technology. The Samsung S9110 is in fact not an ordinary phone, but a wrist watch with full phone functionality. The technical details and the functions it is capable of are not yet very clear. However, it can be said that it is equipped with a GSM Dualband receiver. UMTS support is not present, however there is an internal GPRS modem for data traffic. Bluetooth is also present, very useful for exchanging data with compatible devices.
Design and features
At first glance the Samsung S9110 really looks like a classic watch, complete with strap and safety clasp. The front is enclosed by a steel case that offers great protection from impacts and gives it an elegant and refined style. The glass is scratch-resistant, to better protect the surface. Looking more closely, you discover that the screen is a Touch Screen: the smallest touch-sensitive display in the world, with just 1.6 inches capable of displaying up to 256,000 colors. The dimensions are truly compact, precisely in order to be an object that can be worn on the wrist every day: 12 mm thick and 91 grams in weight. On the sides there are a few keys to best manage the device.
Main functions
Needless to say, it is still difficult to integrate functions common to the most powerful Smartphones on the market into such a small space. However, the S9110 offers complete functions that are above expectations, with the quality guarantee always offered by Samsung. It is possible to use voice commands to access functions more quickly, as well as make voice recordings through the built-in microphone. Talking into it will feel like being a secret agent, as in the best action movies. Amazing is the ability to synchronize your own mailbox with the Outlook system. You can also easily manage SMS and multimedia messages, thanks to simplified text input.
Entertainment and multimedia
The capabilities of this particular Watch Phone don't stop here. The Samsung S9110 is in fact capable of working as an excellent mp3 player, to always have your favorite music at hand. The available internal memory is not very large and is not expandable either; however the 40 MB certainly comes in handy for saving important files. You can also customize ringtones according to your own tastes. The presence or absence of a camera is a cause of conflicting opinions, as the specifications released are not yet complete. Surely the S9110 will kick off the search toward new frontiers in communications.
