Samsung S6700 review
Network and connections
An excellent product offered by Samsung, the S6700 is suitable to satisfy every type of user. The network receiver is a GSM Quadband, able to guarantee optimal coverage in any area of the world, also thanks to UMTS support. Internet browsing is really fast, with an HSDPA modem for packet data traffic. With the HTML browser it will feel like opening pages just like with home ADSL. To exchange files with other compatible devices, Bluetooth is used instead. Or again the USB 2.0 data cable to sync directly to the PC.
Design and features
The compact vertical Slider structure holds everything in a sturdy body that's practical to handle. The rounded edges offer an ergonomic grip, to hold the device comfortably in the palm of one hand. The dimensions are in fact compact, with 12.7 mm of thickness and 105.5 grams of weight. The front houses the large screen, a 2.4-inch TFT with display of up to 16 million colors, equipped with an accelerometer for automatic image rotation. A multifunction key helps in using the menus. Included in the sales package are headphones and a data cable.
Main features
The proprietary platform is designed to offer advanced features to the user, while maintaining simplicity of management and customization. This is made possible by the intuitive interface and the absolutely complete application package offered, with contacts, organizer, alarm clock and calculator, currency converter and even a stopwatch. But that's not all, because Java support allows the installation of compatible software for expansion. Support for Office documents allows you to manage E-mail attachments without any problems. These can be composed quickly, thanks to predictive text which helps a lot with the text of messages. The purely telephone-related aspect is no less impressive, with a good quality speakerphone, voice recorder, and multiconference support. Furthermore, the dedicated camera allows you to make video calls.
Entertainment and multimedia
To complete the technological offering of this S6700, Samsung's designers have equipped the device with a 3.2 megapixel camera. It is really handy for taking quality photographs when needed, also thanks to Flash, Zoom and other dedicated functions, such as Smile Shot. You can also record videos, to be saved on the 120 MB internal memory, further expandable up to 16 GB with microSD cards. The audio quality is excellent thanks to the DNSe system, to make the most of the media player for playing audio and video files in various formats. Battery life is not bad, with 350 hours in Stand-by.
