Samsung S5620 Monte review
Network and connections
A solid product offered by Samsung, dedicated to the mid-range market segment. The network receiver is a GSM Quadband, capable of guaranteeing optimal coverage in any area of the world, also thanks to UMTS support. Internet browsing is really fast, with an HSDPA modem for packet data traffic. With the HTML browser it will feel like opening pages just like with home ADSL. To exchange files with other compatible devices, Bluetooth is used instead. Or alternatively the USB 2.0 data cable to sync directly with a PC. Also present is the antenna for Wi-Fi networks.
Design and features
The compact Candybar structure encloses everything in a sturdy body that's practical to handle. The rounded edges offer an ergonomic grip, allowing the device to be held comfortably in one palm. The dimensions are indeed compact, with a thickness of 12.4 mm and only 92 grams of weight. The front houses the large display, a 3-inch TFT with display of up to 256,000 colors and an accelerometer sensor for image auto-rotation. It is equipped with Capacitive Touch Screen technology, to offer simple and intuitive content management. A multifunction key also helps with menu navigation. Included in the sales package are earphones and a data cable.
Main features
The proprietary platform is designed to offer advanced features to the user, while maintaining simplicity of management and customization. This is made possible by the absolutely complete application package offered, with contacts, organizer, alarm clock and calculator, currency converter and even stopwatch. But that's not all, because Java support allows the installation of compatible software for expansion. Support for Office documents allows you to handle E-mail attachments without any problems. These can be composed quickly, thanks to predictive text that helps a lot with message texts. The purely telephone-related aspect is also not lacking, with good-quality speakerphone, voice recorder, and multi-conference support. In addition, the dedicated camera allows video calls to be made. It is also possible to stay always in touch with friends on the network, via Instant Messaging.
Entertainment and multimedia
To complete the technological offering of this S5620 Monte, Samsung's designers have equipped the device with a 3.2 megapixel camera. It is really handy for taking quality photographs when needed, also thanks to Flash, Zoom and other dedicated functions, such as Smile Detection. You can also record videos, to then save on the 227 MB internal memory, further expandable up to 16 GB with microSD cards. This way, your favorite music and videos will always be in your pocket, to be played with the multimedia player. The AM/FM antenna then allows you to receive your favorite radio broadcasts in any area. Excellent audio quality, thanks to Samsung's DNSe technology. The GPS receiver is also present, to integrate satellite features such as Geo-Tagging.
