Samsung S5603 review
Network and connections
An excellent product offered by Samsung, the S5603 is suitable to satisfy every type of user. The network receiver is a GSM Quadband, capable of guaranteeing optimal coverage in any area of the world, also thanks to UMTS support. Internet browsing is really fast, with an HSDPA modem for packet data traffic. With the HTML browser it will feel like opening pages as with home ADSL. To exchange files with other compatible devices, Bluetooth is used instead. Or else the USB 2.0 data cable to sync directly with the PC.
Design and features
The compact Candybar structure encloses everything in a sturdy body that's practical to handle. The rounded edges offer an ergonomic grip, to hold the device comfortably in the palm of one hand. The dimensions are in fact contained, with 12.9 mm of thickness and just 96 grams of weight. The front houses the large screen, a 2.8-inch TFT with display of up to 16 million colors. It is equipped with Full Touch Screen technology, to offer simple and intuitive content management. A multifunction key also helps in using the menus. Included in the sales package are earphones and a data cable.
Main features
The proprietary platform is designed to offer advanced functionality to the user, while still preserving simplicity of management and customization. This is made possible by the Widget interface and by the absolutely complete application package offered, with address book, organizer, alarm clock and calculator, currency converter and even a stopwatch. But that's not all, because Java support allows the installation of compatible software for expansion. Support for Office documents allows handling E-mail attachments without any problems. These can be composed quickly, thanks to predictive text which helps a lot with message texts. The purely telephonic aspect is no less impressive either, with good-quality speakerphone, voice recorder, and multiconference support. In addition, the dedicated camera allows video calls to be made.
Entertainment and multimedia
To complete the technological offering of this S5603, Samsung's designers have equipped the device with a 3.2 megapixel camera. It is really convenient for taking quality photographs when needed, also thanks to Flash, Zoom and other dedicated functions, such as Smile Shot. You can also record videos, to be saved on the 80 MB internal memory, further expandable up to 16 GB with microSD cards. The audio quality is excellent thanks to the DNSe system, to make the most of the media player for playing audio and video files in various formats. The tracks played are automatically recognized by the Find Music service. The AM/FM antenna then allows you to receive your favorite radio broadcasts in any area. Battery life is not bad, with 300 hours in Stand-by.
