Samsung S5560 review
Network and connections
A mid-range cell phone, equipped with features able to satisfy every type of user. This starts with the network receiver, a Quadband GSM that guarantees excellent signal coverage. UMTS support is missing, however it's possible to browse the Internet easily thanks to the internal GPRS/EDGE modem. But that's not all, because the integrated Wi-Fi antenna also allows you to take advantage of distributed networks. The HTML browser will therefore only need to worry about correctly displaying pages. Of course, the convenient Bluetooth is not missing, for exchanging files with other devices. Furthermore, it's possible to sync with your home PC via USB cable.
Design and features
The lines of this S5560 are clean and simple. The design is not overloaded or demanding, but adapts well to any context. The matte surfaces also give the idea of a simple device that's not demanding to the touch, without fear of damaging it while rubbing in and out of pockets. The dimensions are compact, with a thickness of 13.2 mm and only 95 grams of weight. This way, portability is guaranteed in any situation. The front houses the screen, a large 3-inch WQVGA TFT, capable of displaying up to 256,000 colors. It's also equipped with Resistive Touch Screen technology, to offer intuitive and quick management of functions.
Main features
The platform of this device is Samsung's proprietary one. This doesn't mean a lack of completeness, but on the contrary a wide offer of applications already in the standard configuration. The classic management tools are indeed not missing: address book, organizer, calculator, and alarm clock. Java support also allows you to install software as you like, so as to best customize your device. Support for simplified writing helps a lot in composing texts, to manage SMS, MMS, and E-mail in the shortest possible time. The Office and PDF file readers allow you to open attachments. For voice functions, on the other hand, there's a speakerphone, voice recorder, and multi-conference support.
Entertainment and multimedia
A good device must also offer interesting applications for leisure moments. Here, then, is an integrated digital camera, to capture images up to 5 megapixels. The quality of the photographs will be truly excellent, as will that of the recorded videos. You can also count on dedicated functions for an even more perfect capture. The available memory is 78 MB; if the space is not sufficient, you can always use a microSD for expansion up to 16 GB. This makes it possible to carry your favorite audio and video files with you, to play with the dedicated media player. There's also a receiver for AM/FM radio broadcasts. Battery life is excellent, lasting up to 620 hours in Stand-by.
