Samsung S5200 review
Network and connections
Another interesting Samsung device, complete and easy to use for any type of user. First of all, this is a GSM Quadband, able to work on the frequencies of 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. This way, network coverage is optimal in any part of the world. Internet browsing is guaranteed by the internal modem with GPRS or EDGE, to manage data traffic quickly, allowing the HTML browser to easily open pages. Bluetooth and a port for the USB 2.0 data cable are also present.
Design and features
Samsung's classic style, with careful attention to sober and essential lines, gives an elegant design without falling into the superfluous. The shapes are compact, with 10.9 mm of thickness and a weight of just 97 grams. The body is not a single block, but opens with a vertical Slider movement, thus freeing up the alphanumeric keyboard inside. On the front, instead, is the display, a 2.1 inch QVGA TFT, capable of displaying up to 16 million colors. Just below is a multifunction clickable pad, to comfortably manage every operation. The sales package includes the headset and the data cable.
Main features
To be successful, a device must be equipped with practical, complete and intuitive functions. This is why the proprietary platform aims precisely at these goals, so as to offer a complete and efficient service to its users. The S5200 therefore offers phonebook, organizer and calendar, alarm clock with alarms, stopwatch, calculator and currency converter. In addition to all this, other customizable applications thanks to Java support, which allows compatible software to be installed. Predictive text helps a lot in composing texts, so as to quickly write SMS, multimedia messages and E-mail. The most common Office and PDF document formats are also supported. The voice aspect is complete, with speakerphone, voice recorder and multi-conference support.
Entertainment and multimedia
The 3.2 megapixel camera is very good, for taking quality photographs in any condition. Among the dedicated functions we can mention the LED Flash, the Face Detector and the smile detector, to always have the perfect image at the right moment. The 50 MB internal memory is expandable via microSD cards, so as to always have your favorite music and movies with you. The media player will take care of playing the files. In addition, it is possible to listen to radio broadcasts on the move, thanks to the AM/FM receiver. In short, a decidedly complete range of functions, guaranteed in duration by the lithium battery, for a battery life of up to 300 hours in Stand-by.
