Samsung M6710 Beat DISC review
Network and connections
Samsung presents at the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona a new musical device. It is the M6710 Beat Disc, capable of combining multimedia skills, portability and notable technical features. First of all, it is a GSM Quadband, also capable of using UMTS networks in Dual Mode; in this way, signal coverage is excellent in any condition. Browsing the Internet is absolutely fast and easy, thanks to the internal modem with HSDPA protocol for data traffic. The HTML browser is therefore able to immediately open any page as in a home ADSL connection. Of course, Bluetooth and the output for the USB 2.0 data cable could not be missing.
Design and features
The shape is decidedly eye-catching, to attract a young and above all dynamic audience, with the spirit and desire to have fun in leisure moments. In this device you can find excellent compromises for portability, thanks to its compact dimensions, with a thickness of just 14.7 mm. The body features a vertical Slider opening, which reveals a standard alphanumeric keyboard inside. The front part, on the other hand, is occupied by the screen, a touch-sensitive TFT Half Touch, which allows quick and comfortable management of every function. You will thus be able to interact perfectly with musical and management functions. The sales package includes excellent stereo earphones, in addition to the data cable.
Main features
The M6710 Beat Disc is equipped with a proprietary platform, which as standard offers complete applications and content. With Java support, it is also possible to install additional software, to better customize your device. Of course, management functions such as address book, organizer, alarm clock and clock are not missing, in addition to currency converter and calculator. The voice section offers the possibility of calling in hands-free mode, or recording conversations with the voice recorder. Multiconference calls are also supported; the dedicated front camera allows you to make video calls. The predictive text greatly helps in composing messages, from SMS to E-mail, with the possibility of also managing attachments.
Entertainment and multimedia
Let's now talk about the most high-performance aspect of this Samsung phone. It is an exceptional tool for music playback, thanks to the dedicated multimedia player with support for the most popular audio and video formats. It is also possible to receive your favorite radio stations, thanks to the AM/FM antenna with RDS function. The available 80 MB memory is expandable with microSD and microSDHC cards, so there are no space limits. In this way, you can also save photos and videos captured directly from the rear digital camera, with a resolution of 3.2 megapixels. In short, an absolutely complete phone for any situation.
