Samsung M110 review
Network and connections
Samsung offers a simple but distinctive phone for a low-end market. Equipped with a GSM Dualband system on the 900 and 1800 MHz frequencies, the Samsung M110 Stone guarantees decent signal coverage. As for wireless transmissions, it is equipped with Bluetooth to exchange files with compatible devices. There is also a USB 2.0 output that allows syncing with the home PC through the data cable. The internal modem for browsing the Web is not missing, along with the GPRS protocol that manages data traffic. The WAP browser thus allows viewing pages in HTML.
Design and features
The aspect that clearly stands out the most about this device is the design. Designed to withstand impacts and liquids, it allows use in any condition and situation. The coating is made of rubberized material which, besides making the phone even sturdier, offers more comfort and a more secure grip. The body is a single block, a classic Candybar with a standard numeric keypad on the front. Above it is the screen, a small 128x128 pixel display capable of showing up to 65,000 colors. The weight is also very contained, just 96 grams. The retail package is not very rich, however you can find the convenient earphones.
Main features
The features offered by the Samsung M110 Stone are complete for basic use. The proprietary platform does not allow for great expandability, although Java support allows installing small utilities and compatible games. There is no shortage of alarm clock, calendar with synchronized agenda, as well as built-in speakerphone and voice recorder. The directional pad allows for easy navigation through the menus, which are simple and intuitive given the few capabilities. Interesting is the feature for sending SOS messages in case of dangerous situations.
Entertainment and multimedia
Samsung's designers wanted to equip this device with a rear camera, to give a more complete connotation to its features. However, the quality turns out to be quite poor, with only 0.3 megapixel resolution. Included, however, are a Flash, which can be activated through a dedicated button, as well as 4X Zoom. The phone proves to be good for the music aspect though, with an AM/FM receiver that can store up to 30 radio stations, even though it is not equipped with a media player. Finally, the battery life is satisfactory, a 1000 mAh lithium-ion battery that lasts up to 400 hours in Stand-by.
