Network and connections
Samsung launches onto the market a truly formidable product, complete in every respect. As far as connections are concerned, you can count on GSM Triband reception, on frequencies of 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. With the possibility of use in Dual Mode, it is also possible to take advantage of UMTS support. Fast data traffic is instead managed by HSDPA, which allows you to browse the Web quickly, together with the WAP browser and the built-in modem. Or again you can use distributed networks, with the built-in Wi-Fi card. Finally, it is also possible to connect to compatible devices via Bluetooth, or with the included USB 2.0 cable.
Design and features
The structure of the i780 is the classic one-piece body, in a PDA style, with rounded edges to give greater comfort in the grip. On the front, the 65,000-color touch-sensitive screen stands out, with Touch Screen technology; below it a handy optical mouse to quickly manage all functions. The keyboard is of the extended type in QWERTY format, particularly suited for easy text writing. Despite the type of device, the dimensions have been kept fairly compact: just 11.5 mm thick, for a weight of 120 grams. The retail package is very rich: you will find the headset, two batteries, a home charger and a car charger, a desktop cradle and a microSD memory card.
Main features
The platform that the Samsung i780 is equipped with is Windows Mobile 6 Professional. This guarantees great customization and compatibility with applications and devices. It is in fact possible to install additional programs with Java support. The voice aspect is complete, with speakerphone, voice recording and support for video calling in multi-conference. The management section is also excellent, thanks to the calendar for advanced management of appointments, the Office document viewer in various formats and PDF, as well as the management of various E-mail clients.
Entertainment and multimedia
Despite its strong qualities for Business users, the i780 is also able to satisfy in terms of entertainment features. The 2 megapixel rear camera allows you to obtain good quality photographs, also thanks to the Zoom, reaching a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. With the multimedia player, however, it is possible to play music and videos in various formats, all of which can be stored on the 256 MB available by default, expandable with microSD type cards. A notable feature is the presence of the GPS satellite receiver, which allows you to always have a navigator in your pocket, to always travel on the right road toward your destination.
