Samsung G800 review

Network and connections
The Samsung G800 positions itself as a main competitor to rival manufacturers, in the segment concerning multimedia features. First of all, it is equipped with a GSM Triband receiver, on the frequencies of 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. The possibility of also taking advantage of UMTS support in Dual mode is a great advantage, to guarantee excellent coverage in any usage condition. Furthermore, Bluetooth connectivity and the port for connecting the USB 2.0 cable are not missing. Browsing the Internet is really convenient, thanks to HSDPA support for fast data traffic; this, together with the internal modem and the WAP browser, allows HTML pages to be displayed.

Design and features
Samsung has somewhat changed its classic concept of phone design. The G800 is in fact characterized by sharp, squared lines, with the exception of the slightly rounded corners. The shapes are quite generous, almost like a compact camera: 18.8 mm thick, for a weight of 146 grams. The front side is entirely occupied by the screen, a 2.4-inch Touch Screen with 262,000 colors. A five-way directional pad also helps with navigation and management of the device. The slider opening, on the other hand, reveals a standard numeric keypad inside. Finally, a stereo headset is included in the purchase kit, in addition to the USB cable.

Main features
As far as features are concerned, the Samsung G800 proves to be very complete. It is equipped with advanced task management, with synchronized agenda and calendar, as well as a handy alarm clock. The voice sector is also rich, with support for multi-conferencing and video calling, as well as integrated speakerphone and voice recorder. The proprietary platform allows applications to be installed and customized to the best, thanks to Java support. Furthermore, the possibility of writing SMS and multimedia messages, as well as E-mails, is certainly not missing.

Entertainment and multimedia
This section touches on the aspect of maximum potential expression for this device. The Samsung G800 is in fact equipped with a rear camera of as much as 5 megapixels, at a maximum resolution of 2592x1944 pixels. Thanks to the Zoom and the integrated Xenon Flash, it is possible to take perfect photographs, in any lighting condition. It is also possible to create personal playlists to best manage your favorite music. The multimedia player is thus able to filter tracks and videos to be played according to various criteria. The memory available is plentiful at 150 MB, further expandable via microSD cards. Finally, battery life is very satisfactory, about 300 hours of Stand-by with the 1000 mAh lithium battery.
