Samsung F480i review
Network and connections
The F480 model is renewed in its outer look and in its application menus, becoming the F480i. The network system is GSM Triband, on frequencies of 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. Signal coverage is always optimal, also thanks to Dual Mode support for making use of UMTS networks. The fast HSDPA module at 7.2 Mbps makes Internet browsing extremely quick. It is possible to exchange images and audio files with a simple click, using the USB connection or Bluetooth 2.0. However, Wi-Fi technology and a GPS antenna are missing.
Design and features
The aesthetic class of this Samsung is immediately noticeable, thanks to its minimalist yet refined design. Small and light, only 11.6 mm thick and 106 grams in weight. It is equipped with a large Capacitive Touch Screen display at 240x320 pixels with 262K colors and energy saving, which guarantees 250 hours of battery life in Stand-by. Large internal memory of 160 MB expandable up to 16 GB with MicroSD, for storing plenty of music and data.
Main features
Designed around the user, Samsung's F480i and its "drag and drop" function allow applications to be dragged with a finger. Customization thus goes beyond every limit, with dynamic management of the display through cards and widgets. The proprietary platform partly limits the installation of additional components, but the standard programs fully support SMS, E-mail and management applications. There is great readiness for network applications, such as Youtube, Facebook, MySpace and Picasa. But these are only some of the many available. Java support also allows additional software to be installed.
Entertainment and multimedia
Samsung wanted to equip this phone with a camera of as much as 5 megapixels. The 4x zoom allows even the smallest details to be captured. Notable is the automatic smile recognition in autofocus, for capturing the most important moments. In addition, the F480i incorporates an FM radio and a multimedia player, as well as games like Photo Puzzle. A very useful security feature is the Mobile Tracker, which allows the phone to be found in case of theft. In short, a high-quality and absolutely complete device.
