Samsung E500 review

Network and connections

Samsung SGH-E500 is a particularly "feminine" model.
It is classified as a GSM Tri-Band type cell phone
and is therefore able to work on three different frequencies:
900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz. This feature gives it
wide network compatibility across almost the entire world.
For data transfer, EDGE technology is available, in
addition to GPRS. Samsung SGH-E500 is also equipped
with the now indispensable Bluetooth support, which allows
the use of wireless accessories and file exchange with other
devices. Finally, it offers USB-type connectivity to
connect via cable to a PC. The main display is very sharp.

Design and features

Samsung SGH-E500 is characterized by its clamshell
opening and particularly "feminine" design. The upper
part of the body is in fact partially covered in leather and
the camera is framed by rhinestones. The external screen,
moreover, can be used as a mirror. The upper
inner part of the body is occupied by the main display, which
is thus well protected from scratches and bumps. Below this is
the keypad, completely black and featuring
gold inserts that give it a very "chic" look. The
built-in antenna enhances the handling of the device.

Main features

The recorder on this Samsung model also allows you to
record sequences of phone conversations, in addition to voice
Memos. The phone also has a speakerphone, alarm clock and
calculator. As for messaging, Samsung
SGH-E500 makes use of all currently available standards:
it is in fact able to receive and send Sms, Ems, Mms and E-
mail. Thanks to the T9 intuitive writing software,
composing them is easy and quick. The internal memory is a
full 80 MB but, unfortunately, it is not expandable.

Entertainment and multimedia

Samsung SGH-E500 offers various customization
options, starting with ringtones. By connecting to
the internet through the WAP browser, it is possible to download
polyphonic melodies, screensavers and Java (J2ME) games. While
lacking a built-in radio, Samsung SGH-E500 is
nonetheless a good music entertainer: it is in fact
able to play MP3/AAC/AAC+ files. The built-in camera
is a quality tool. It indeed has a sensor
resolution of a full 1.3 megapixels, for quality photos,
sharp and detailed. The device features a 5x digital zoom
and a built-in flash. Videos can also be
recorded and played back.
