Samsung E390 review
Network and connections
Samsung SGH-E390 is a "Quad-band" GSM phone, operating on the GSM frequencies of 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz. Data transfer reliability is guaranteed by EDGE and GPRS connectivity. This model is also equipped with Bluetooth wireless technology, which allows for quick file exchange with other compatible devices, as well as the use of wireless accessories and headsets. There is no infrared port (IrDa), however, while it is possible to connect the phone to a computer using the appropriate USB cable. The battery is good.
Design and features
This is a compact, elegant and very thin model. The opening is of the slide-up type. SGH-E390 also stands out for its attention to detail and refined shapes. The phone is available in the "Black" color and does not allow for interchangeable covers. The opening is activated by pressing a side control, which reveals a numeric keypad, with rather small and rather rounded keys.
Main features
SGH-E390 offers a wide range of capabilities. These include built-in speakerphone, polyphonic ringtones and voice call and recording functions. All major messaging formats are also usable: in fact, it is possible to manage and send Sms, Ems, Mms and e-mail. Quick writing is ensured by the T9 predictive text system. The available memory is about 15 MB and is expandable via microSD / T-Flash cards. This Samsung model also offers alarm clock and organizer functions.
Entertainment and multimedia
It is possible to enjoy ringtones and music tracks in MP3 and AAC format thanks to the built-in player. Samsung SGH-E390, unlike many Nokia phones, does not have a built-in AM/FM radio, while it does allow for playback of Mpeg4 video sequences. There are also some pre-installed games and, thanks to Java (J2ME) support, it is possible to get new ones, even by downloading them from the network via the WAP browser. The built-in camera is good, with a 1.3 Megapixel sensor and 4x digital zoom.
