Samsung B6520 Omnia PRO 5 review
Network and connections
Samsung offers a Smartphone for Business users, with advanced and complete functions for any kind of need. The network receiver is a GSM Quadband, capable of guaranteeing optimal coverage in any area of the world, also thanks to UMTS support. Internet browsing is really fast, with an HSDPA modem for packet data traffic. With the HTML browser it will feel like opening pages just like with home ADSL. To exchange files with other compatible devices, Bluetooth is used instead. Or even the USB 2.0 data cable to sync directly with a PC. There's also an antenna for distributed Wi-Fi networks.
Design and features
The compact structure encloses everything in a sturdy body that's practical to handle, despite the presence of the extended QWERTY keyboard. The rounded edges offer an ergonomic grip, allowing the device to be held comfortably in one palm. The dimensions are in fact compact, with a thickness of 11.5 mm and a weight just over 100 grams. The front houses the wide display, a 2.4-inch TFT with display of up to 65,000 colors and an accelerometer sensor for image auto-rotation. A multifunction key also helps with menu navigation. The sales package includes headphones and a data cable.
Main features
The platform is Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 Standard, designed to offer advanced functionality to the user, while still maintaining ease of management and customization. This is made possible by the absolutely complete application package offered, with contacts, organizer, alarm clock and calculator, currency converter and even a stopwatch. But that's not all, because Java support allows the installation of compatible software for expansion. Support for Office documents allows for trouble-free management of E-mail attachments. These can be composed quickly, thanks to the QWERTY keyboard, ideal for typing just like on a PC. The RSS Feed reader is also useful. The purely telephone-related aspect is no less impressive, with good-quality speakerphone, voice recorder, and multiconference support. Furthermore, the dedicated camera allows video calls to be made. It's also possible to stay in touch with friends on the network at all times, via Instant Messaging.
Entertainment and multimedia
In a quality device like the B6520 Omnia Pro 5, a camera certainly couldn't be missing. It has a resolution of 2 megapixels, for good quality images when needed, also thanks to Flash, Zoom and other dedicated functions. It will also be possible to record videos, to be saved on the 220 MB internal memory, further expandable up to 16 GB with microSD cards. This way, favorite music and videos will always be on hand, to be played with the media player. The AM/FM antenna then allows you to receive your favorite radio broadcasts anywhere, complete with RDS function. Also included is the GPS receiver for satellite functions.
