Nokia E61 review
Network and connections
Nokia E61 features the Symbian series 60 third edition operating system. On the other hand, this is a model that performs the functions of a PDA handheld and is therefore also equipped with a really remarkable display size. E61 offers the capabilities of Dual Mode terminals, meaning it is able to operate worldwide, interfacing with UMTS networks or with GSM networks (900, 1800, 1900 MHz). Among other things, it allows high-speed data transfer, thanks to 3G support, as well as EDGE and GPRS technologies. This model is also equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity and IrDa and Bluetooth compatibility, for maximum versatility of use. Cable connection to a computer takes place via the classic USB cable.
Design and equipment
The design of this smartphone is decidedly functional. It is a "candybar" type terminal, in steel sheet, equipped with a complete "Qwerty" keyboard, perfect for writing on the go. The built-in antenna does not affect the dimensions, with regard to which the slim thickness of the device should be noted. Finally, there is a central pad that is easy to handle. The purchase kit includes manual, battery charger and headset.
Main features
As for messaging, Nokia E61 supports the simplified T9 system for writing and managing Sms, Mms, IM and E-mail with related attachments. The model also features an integrated hands-free speaker, multi-conference, voice command calling and Voice Memo. It also provides for the management of various types of documents, spreadsheets, presentations, pdf files. This device is in fact compatible with various software, such as Zip manager and Adobe Reader. Other resources include, finally, the calculator, the alarm clock and the organizer.
Entertainment and multimedia
Even though the entertainment area is not exactly its strong point, given its professional user base, Nokia E61 features a multimedia player capable of playing MP3 audio files, MP4 and 3GP video. Unfortunately, there is no built-in radio and, above all, no camera. This model is also equipped with 75 MB of memory, expandable via miniSD cards. The ample availability of storage space makes this smartphone a perfect travel companion. Polyphonic ringtones and Java games are also supported, which can also be downloaded via the WAP browser.
