Nokia C1-01 review
Network and connections
The Finnish company offers a simple but functional phone, for users who don't have particular needs. Network support is GSM Dualband, which guarantees sufficient signal coverage; however, UMTS mode is not available. The internal modem with GPRS data traffic management allows browsing in WAP, through the dedicated browser. Bluetooth proves useful for exchanging files with compatible devices. A USB port is also present for syncing the phone directly with your home PC.
Design and features
It's immediately clear how handy and comfortable the phone is to carry in your pocket. Its dimensions are indeed compact, with a very contained weight; the Candybar design also allows for a slim thickness, at 14 mm and a weight of just 79 grams. On the front is the display, a 1.8-inch TFT, capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors. On the lower part, meanwhile, is the standard keypad, with comfortable, well-arranged keys.
Main features
An Entry Level phone is by definition a not-too-complex device, offering basic but still good-quality features. That's why the C1-01 includes address book management, calendar, and alarm clock with customizable ringtones, as well as the voice aspect with speakerphone and voice recorder. Nokia's proprietary platform also allows you to expand content according to your needs, thanks to Java support for compatible applications. There's also support for writing SMS and multimedia messages with T9 quick composition, as well as for E-mail. It's also possible to use Instant Messaging programs.
Entertainment and multimedia
The Nokia C1-01 is truly limited to the essentials, but it proves good for leisure moments. You can indeed play mp3 audio files without issues, to be saved on expandable memory up to 8 GB. There's also an AM/FM radio antenna, complete with RDS function. During leisure moments you can also use simple pre-installed games, or install new compatible ones. The built-in camera has VGA resolution, for acceptable quality images when needed. The 1020 mAh lithium battery guarantees a battery life of up to 504 hours in Stand-by.
