Nokia 7900 Prism review
Network and connections
Nokia 7900 Prism is a mobile phone based on a GSM Quad-band system, thus operating on four different frequencies: 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz. It also belongs to the so-called Dual Mode category, being a terminal with UMTS connectivity. In addition to this technology, it also has EDGE, GPRS and the less common HSCSD connections. Nokia 7900 Prism also offers a USB port, and supports Bluetooth wireless technology. The OLED display is decidedly large, with a resolution of 240x320 pixels and a color rendering of 16 million colors. The battery is a lithium one at 850 mAh, and offers a standby autonomy of 240 hours and 3 hours of talk time.
Design and features
Nokia 7900 Prism comes as a classic vertical single-body phone (candybar). Moreover, as this model is intended mainly for a young audience, it focuses, besides its technical qualities, also on its aesthetic style, which recalls that of a "prism," indeed, with purplish and black facets. The design, in fact, is elegant but not sober, and the structure is compact and slim (it weighs 101 grams), with an integrated antenna. The purchase kit is completed by the charger, the user manual and the headset.
Main features
There are some important features, among which we should mention voice-recognition calling (via dedicated keys), sound recording and push-to-talk, although for this service it is necessary to check availability with your own carrier. Another advanced function, again aimed at business users, is the "multiconference." In addition, the device allows the use of video calls and video messages. Regarding messaging, finally, this model supports SMS, EMS, MMS and E-mail, with T9 predictive text input. The memory, non-expandable, is a full 1 GB.
Entertainment and multimedia
Despite its focus on connectivity, Nokia 7900 Prism allows the use of a handy multimedia player, capable of playing MP3 music files and various videos. The model does not have a radio but offers polyphonic ringtones, screensavers and Java games (J2ME), which can also be downloaded through the built-in WAP browser. It has a digital camera that records video and takes pictures at a maximum size of 1600x1200 pixels (from a 2 Megapixel sensor).
