Nokia 6820 review
Network and connections
The Nokia 6820 is a Tri-Band cellphone, able to operate on three different frequencies (900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz for Europe). It does not have UMTS connectivity but allows EDGE, HSCSD and GPRS connections. The cellphone is also equipped with Bluetooth technology, which allows the use of wireless accessories and connection with other devices. Also available are infrared ports (IrDa) and a USB port. The Nokia 6820 features a large LCD screen with a resolution of 128x128 pixels with a 4096-color CSTN matrix. The cellphone makes use of an 850 mAh lithium-ion battery, for good battery life.
Design and features
The Nokia 6820 comes with a very distinctive, sinuous design, with a standard, single-body look. The upper part of the body, occupied by the screen, projects forward from the lower part, where the keypad is located. The dimensions are however very compact: the cellphone measures 107 millimeters in length, 47 millimeters in width and 20 millimeters in depth. The antenna is built-in and does not further increase the dimensions. With its weight of a full 100 grams, the Nokia 6820 turns out to be a rather "heavy" device.
Main features
During a call it is possible to switch to speakerphone mode, thanks to the built-in speaker. The Nokia 6820 also allows conference calls, that is, communicating with multiple terminals connected simultaneously. Voice Memo and Voice Dial are also available. Rounding out the picture are the classic alarm clock, calculator and organizer functions. As for messaging, the Nokia 6820 is compatible with all currently available standards: it therefore offers the ability to send and receive SMS, EMS, MMS and e-mail, all easily composed thanks to the presence of the dedicated T9 quick-writing software. Memory is 3.5 MB, not expandable.
Entertainment and multimedia
The cellphone has a camera that features a sensor with a CIF resolution of 352x288 pixels. This device allows you to get photos of mediocre quality. The camera is equipped with digital zoom, as well as self-timer and built-in flash. It is however possible to manually adjust contrast and brightness, as well as record short video sequences. This model offers the user polyphonic ringtones, screensavers and Java games (J2ME), with the ability to download new content via the built-in WAP browser. The Nokia 6820 is also a good music file player.
