Network and connections
Nokia 6500 Slide is a Dual Mode, UMTS and GSM Tri-band cell phone; that is, it uses three different frequencies (900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz). It features Bluetooth technology, for exchanging data with other cell phones or for using wireless peripherals. To connect to a computer there is finally a micro USB port available. A TV output is also available, allowing the phone to be connected to a television. Nokia 6500 Slide has a TFT matrix display with 16 million colors; it is rather large in size, with its 240x320 pixels. The cell phone is finally powered by a lithium-ion battery that ensures up to 310 hours of standby autonomy and about 6 hours of talk time.
Design and features
Nokia 6500 Slide is a compact cell phone, with a "slide up" opening (sliding) and a simple, functional design, with squared lines. It measures 96.5 millimeters in length, 46.5 millimeters in width and 16.4 millimeters in depth. The antenna is integrated into the body of the phone, and therefore does not affect either the total dimensions or handling. Worth noting is the stainless steel casing, which protects against moisture and accidental splashes. Included in the purchase package are the travel charger and the headset.
Main functions
This model from the Finnish manufacturer boasts a large number of functions. In call mode, for example, it has an integrated speakerphone, which allows hands-free calling even without the headset. It also offers the possibility of making multi-conference calls, as well as using video calls and video messages. It also has a dedicated button for Voice Memo. In line with the more advanced models from the same manufacturer, Nokia 6500 Slide also has the Push-to-Talk function, which can transform it, when needed, into a walkie-talkie usable to communicate with compatible terminals. Finally, the usual alarm, calculator and organizer functions are present. As for messaging, Nokia 6500 Slide is capable of sending and receiving SMS, MMS, e-mail, all easily composed thanks to the T9 quick-writing software. The internal memory is 20 MB but it is expandable via microSD cards (Transflash).
Entertainment and multimedia
Nokia 6500 Slide offers its users polyphonic ringtones, screensavers and Java games (J2ME), with the possibility of downloading new content through the built-in WAP browser. Nokia 6500 Slide can be used as a multimedia player: it is in fact capable of playing music files in MP3, aac and aac+ formats, as well as MPEG4 and 3GP videos. The phone is also equipped with an FM radio with RDS system and allows the viewing of video-streaming content. Nokia 6500 Slide features a cutting-edge integrated camera: it has a sensor resolution of a full 3.2 MegaPixel and thus ensures excellent quality photographs. The device has an integrated flash and Carl Zeiss optical zoom, as well as self-timer and video recording. The internal secondary video camera, finally, is mainly dedicated to video calls.
