Nokia 5320 XpressMusic review
Network and connections
A high-quality cell phone, designed for those who especially love music or who are simply looking for a device with excellent performance. This is in fact a Quadband GSM, capable of guaranteeing incredible coverage in any area, thanks also to UMTS support to work in Dual Mode. The Internet is also accessible without compromise, thanks to the internal modem with HSDPA data traffic; pages are displayed by the HTML browser at high speed, just like with home ADSL. Exchanging files with friends is easy via Bluetooth, as is connecting to a PC with the USB cable.
Design and features
The multimedia character is immediately visible, thanks to the side keys dedicated to music functions. As a true portable device it has rounded shapes and compact dimensions: 15 mm thick for only 90 grams of weight. The body is the classic Nokia Candybar, practical and with every key within easy reach in an intuitive way. The display is a 2-inch QVGA, showing 16 million colors, for sharp and bright images. Just below is the standard numeric keypad, with keys that don't require particular attention when pressed, being easily identifiable. The retail package is generous, including stereo headphones from the XpressMusic series, as well as a memory card.
Main features
The classic Nokia platform features intuitive and simple menus, to manage every function quickly and without problems. Java support allows compatible applications to be installed, to customize the 5320 according to one's needs. The phonebook allows an unlimited number of contacts to be stored; the calendar, meanwhile, is handy for managing appointments and personal engagements. There's also an alarm clock and calculator, as well as a currency converter. The voice section offers good quality hands-free calling, multi-conference support, and the ability to make video calls, thanks to the dedicated camera. T9 helps with quick message composition, allowing you to write E-mails quickly too. The Text-to-Speech function automatically reads out SMS messages.
Entertainment and multimedia
The XpressMusic series is characterized by excellent quality musical capabilities. For this reason the 5320 integrates a dedicated audio chip for Hi-Fi-type audio quality. There are numerous dedicated functions, such as Say & Play, to start playback with a voice command. There's also an AM/FM radio receiver, with RDS function to receive information about the various radio stations. The media player is clearly capable of faithfully playing back every type of file, both audio and video. There's also a 2-megapixel resolution camera on the back, for taking photographs at any moment, thanks to built-in Zoom and Flash. The available memory is expandable up to 8 GB via microSD cards. High portability then, thanks also to the lithium battery for a Stand-by time of up to 250 hours.
