Nokia 5310 review
Network and connections
The only thing practically missing is the latest-generation UMTS connection on the Nokia 5310 mobile phone, which arrives on the market in August 2007. Apart from that, it is a complete device: Tri-Band on frequencies of 900, 1800 and 1900 Mhz, it integrates GPRS class 32 and EDGE class 32 support. In addition, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, the Wap browser and a USB 2.0 port are available. 30 MB of internal memory expandable thanks to microSD type cards.
Design and features
The body is almost entirely black, but the side inserts next to the display in blue or in red give the model, respectively, a touch of great elegance or of originality. The design is of the standard type, with a single high-performance display: size of 31.5x41.5 millimeters, resolution 240x320 pixels and a 16 million color filter. The weight is just 71 grams, the dimensions 103.8x44.7x9.9 millimeters. 300 hours of stand-by autonomy and 5 hours and 20 minutes of talk time thanks to the 860 mAh battery.
Main functions
Integrated hands-free speaker, for hands-free calling, Voice Memo and Voice Command for recording voice sequences and contacting numbers in the address book with voice command are the main in-call functions. Also included are vibration, converter, alarm clock, calculator. The ringtones are all 64-tone polyphonic and also available in MP3, MP4, WMA and AAC formats. The address book holds up to 2000 contacts with Photocall.
Entertainment and multimedia
The multimedia section and the one dedicated to entertainment on the Nokia 5310 are excellent. One can start by mentioning the Stereo FM radio with RDS system for displaying track information. There is also an MP3 player with MP4, AAC, WMA compatibility. The built-in games are Snake II, Music Guess and Towerbloxx, and obviously others can be added via download. The camera has a resolution of 2 Megapixels with 1600x1200 pixel images and the ability to record videos in QCIF.
