Nokia 5230 review

Network and connections
The Finnish company offers a Touch Screen device at an affordable price, just over 140 Euros. The Nokia 5230 is equipped with a GSM Quadband network receiver, which offers absolutely excellent coverage anywhere in the world. It also features UMTS support. As for wireless, Bluetooth is handy for exchanging files with other devices. It is also possible to surf the Web, thanks to HSDPA support for data traffic and the HTML browser. It is also possible to sync directly to a PC via the USB 2.0 cable.

Design and features
The design is a classic Candybar, almost entirely covered on the front by the screen. This is a 3.2-inch Widescreen 16:9 TFT, capable of displaying up to 16 million colors; the images are absolutely bright and sharp. It is also equipped with Resistive Touch Screen technology. The dimensions are fairly in line with competing devices, although perhaps the thickness could have been reduced a bit; indeed we are talking about 115 grams for the weight and 15.5 mm for the thickness. The lines are simple and essential, but manage to give it a notable elegance.

Main features
The Nokia 5230 is provided with the Symbian OS version 9.4 platform, a guarantee of boundless potential. Customization is extreme, with the possibility of installing compatible applications also thanks to Java support. The menus and the desktop have been completely redesigned, with innovative solutions aimed at comfort and speed of use. The Touch Screen, among other things, allows content to be managed with the stylus or with fingers. The contacts bar, with quick links to the log related to each of them; or again the multimedia bar with links to the Web. Text writing is handled by T9, making it quick to compose SMS, multimedia messages and E-mail.

Entertainment and multimedia
This Nokia is particularly dedicated to musical entertainment. That's why it is equipped with a powerful multimedia player, with support for various audio and video formats. The sound quality is amazing, also thanks to the various possible adjustments of the mixer. To complete the offer there is a 2 megapixel camera, capable of taking good quality images, thanks also to the dedicated functions. Also interesting is the presence of GPS, to integrate satellite functionality. Portability is satisfactory, thanks to the 1320 mAh battery which guarantees a duration of up to 432 hours in Stand-by.
