Network and connections


This is a GSM Tri-band cellular phone, with support for EDGE and GPRS data transfer technologies. The lack of a 3G interface makes it, however, less versatile compared to other products in this category. It is possible to exchange files with compatible devices via the IrDa and Bluetooth wireless connections. The latter also allows the use of numerous dedicated accessories, such as wireless headsets and hands-free systems.



Design and features


The design of the Nokia 5200 is slide-up (vertical sliding), simple yet elegant in its shape. The slender structure and integrated antenna enhance the compactness of the device, which reveals the numeric keypad only after pressing a small side button. Located on the front of the phone is the display, sharp and scratch-resistant, which features as many as 262000 colors.



Main features


The Nokia 5200 offers Sms and Mms messaging services, with the T9 predictive text system that helps the user with text entry. This model also features polyphonic ringtones, built-in hands-free, voice-command calling, and an audio recorder. Power is supplied by a 760 mAh lithium-ion battery, which guarantees a battery life of about 300 hours on standby and up to 300 minutes of talk time. Available memory is just 5 MB, but expansion is possible via the MicroSD card slot.



Entertainment and multimedia


The multimedia section is moderately rich. Notable is the presence of the built-in FM radio tuner. This is a particularly welcome accessory, useful for passing the time while on the move. There is also a VGA-type camera (640x480 pixels), with 4x digital zoom and the ability to shoot video. While not at the top of the range, this device allows you to capture any kind of subject, as long as you don't expect quality from a distance. Finally, the Nokia 5200 supports Java technology, useful for installing and using dedicated games and applications, which can also be downloaded from the web via the built-in WAP/xHTML browser.
