Nokia 5140 review
Network and connections
No longer brand new but not outdated either, Nokia 5140 is a Tri-Band GSM introduced at the end of 2003. It surprisingly integrates several connections. Having already mentioned the three frequency bands at 900, 1800, 1900 Mhz, for global coverage, it also adds support for GPRS (class 10) and EDGE (class 6), as well as the Wap browser for connecting to the Internet. It also features an infrared port and a USB output.
Design and features
Lightweight and fairly compact in size, Nokia 5140 comes with a standard or monoblock design. The available color, leaning toward red, is quite original. The total weight is 100 grams, with a total volume of 86 cc. The height is 106 millimeters, the width 47 millimeters, and the depth 24 millimeters. The display shows up to 4096 colors, is of the CSTN type, and has a resolution of 128x128 pixels. The 760 mAh battery offers a battery life of 300 hours in stand-by and 5 hours in talk time.
Main features
Among the main additional features worth mentioning are vibration, built-in speakerphone, calendar, calculator, thermometer, digital compass, and flashlight. Ringtones are polyphonic, and the phonebook can hold up to 500 contacts. It can store the last 20 dialed calls, as well as the last 10 received and missed calls. A Java memory of 64 Kb allows storage of up to 150 SMS or 50 MMS messages.
Entertainment and multimedia
The Nokia 5140 phone does offer something for entertainment, although it's not among the most advanced in this respect. The musical aspect is covered by the presence of a Stereo radio for listening to FM stations. Java support and the presence of the Wap browser allow for downloading new games and new ringtones. Messaging offers support for sending and receiving SMS, MMS with T9 predictive text input and e-mail management.
