Nokia 5130 XpressMusic review

Network and connections
A high-quality cell phone, designed for those who particularly love music or who are simply looking for a device with excellent performance. It is in fact a GSM Quadband, capable of guaranteeing incredible coverage in any area, despite the lack of UMTS support. The Internet is also accessible without compromise, thanks to the internal modem with data traffic over GPRS; pages are displayed by the HTML browser. Exchanging files with friends is easy via Bluetooth, as is connecting to a PC with the USB cable.

Design and features
The multimedia nature is immediately visible, thanks to the side keys dedicated to music functions. As a true portable device, it has rounded shapes and compact dimensions: 14.8 mm thick for only 88 grams of weight. The body is the classic Nokia Candybar, practical and with every key within easy reach in an intuitive way. The display is a 2-inch QVGA, showing 256,000 colors, for sharp and bright images. Just below is the standard numeric keypad, with keys that don't require particular attention when pressing, being easily identifiable. The retail package is rich, including stereo headphones from the XpressMusic series, as well as a memory card.

Main features
The classic Nokia platform features intuitive and simple menus, for quickly and easily managing every function. Java support allows you to install compatible applications, to customize the 5130 according to your needs. The phonebook allows you to store an unlimited number of contacts; the calendar, on the other hand, is handy for managing appointments and personal commitments. There's also an alarm clock and calculator, as well as a currency converter. The voice section offers a good-quality speakerphone and multi-conference support, as well as a voice recorder. T9 helps with quick message composition, allowing you to write emails quickly as well.

Entertainment and multimedia
The XpressMusic series is characterized by excellent-quality musical capabilities. For this reason, the 5130 integrates a dedicated audio chip for Hi-Fi type sound quality. There's also an AM/FM radio receiver, with RDS function for receiving information on various radio stations. The media player is clearly capable of faithfully playing back any type of file, both audio and video. There is also a 2 megapixel resolution camera on the back, for taking photographs at any time, thanks to built-in Zoom and Flash. The available memory is expandable up to 8 GB via microSD cards. High portability, then, thanks also to the lithium battery for up to 288 hours of Stand-by time.
