Nokia 2220 slide review

Network and connections
An entry level device to offer a valid and functional alternative to the customer looking for simplicity and essentiality. The Nokia 2220 Slide still retains the distinctive quality of the Finnish company. The network receiver is a GSM Dualband, which provides excellent coverage although only at a local level, not suitable for intercontinental travel. It does not support UMTS networks, however Internet browsing services are guaranteed by the GPRS and EDGE modem. It actually allows WAP pages to be displayed correctly. Bluetooth and USB connections are also missing.

Design and features
Innovative and dynamic style, with surfaces in bright colors to give visibility in any environment. The lines are softened towards the edges, so as to offer greater grip security and comfort. The body opens with a vertical Slider movement, so as to reduce the dimensions and offer greater portability. The thickness is 15.9 mm for a weight of 93.5 grams. The display is a 1.8 inch TFT, capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors. Inside, the standard alphanumeric keyboard, with keys that are comfortable to use.

Main features
The classic Nokia menus, quick and intuitive to use for best managing every operation, are always very much appreciated by those who are not looking for overly refined and complicated devices. So on the 2220 Slide you can quickly manage the contacts address book, organizer for appointments, calculator, alarm clock and currency converter. Support for predictive text really helps a lot in composing text, so you can write SMS, multimedia messages and even E-mails without any problems. The purely telephone aspect instead offers the speakerphone, the voice recorder and support for multiconferencing, as well as XpressAudio messaging.

Entertainment and multimedia
So as not to miss anything, Nokia designers have equipped this model with a digital camera, with VGA resolution. Compared to its bigger siblings and the now widespread videophones with high resolutions, the 2220 Slide still allows you to take photographs of acceptable quality when needed. The internal memory is only 32 MB, a bit scarce to offer ample storage autonomy. It is however possible to carry audio and video files to be played with the dedicated multimedia player. There is also an AM/FM radio antenna. The battery life is excellent though, lasting up to 480 hours in Stand-by.
