Nokia 1800 review
Network and connections
An easy and simple phone, for users looking for a stable device that allows making calls or a few small extra functions. The network receiver at 1800 is a GSM Dualband; it guarantees good signal coverage, even if it does not allow for intercontinental travel. However, it lacks the internal modem with GPRS technology that would allow browsing the WAP network. Bluetooth and any other external connection are also absent.
Design and features
A classic and essential style, somewhat old-fashioned, for this Nokia 1800. The structure is compact in a Candybar format, sturdy at first glance but light to the touch. The weight is in fact 78.5 grams, for a thickness of 15.3 mm. Portability is therefore high, without having to make any compromises. The front part of the device houses the screen, a 1.8-inch TFT, capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors. In the center is a clickable directional pad that, together with some function keys, allows you to manage every operation in the best way. Just below instead is the standard alphanumeric keypad.
Main features
The proprietary platform proves to be simple and not dispersive right from the start. The various functions can be easily found, for extremely fast and undemanding use. Support for predictive text helps a lot in composing text, so as to best manage SMS, but not multimedia messages and E-mail. The classic management features such as phonebook and organizer, alarm clock and calculator are not missing. For purely telephone functions there are speakerphone, voice recorder and support for multi-conferencing.
Entertainment and multimedia
A small device suited to those not looking for sophisticated functions, therefore limited to the essentials. However, on the 1800 there is an AM/FM radio antenna for tuning into your favorite radio stations. To give a personal touch to this device, you can replace the covers with the color that appeals to you most. During leisure moments, it's always nice to have a small but intriguing game on your cell phone. Finally, truly excellent battery life, for about 528 hours in Stand-by.
