Nokia 1616 review
Network and connections
A simple and affordable phone, for undemanding users looking for reliability and convenience. Nokia knows how to offer the right compromise with this 1616. It is equipped with a GSM Dualband receiver, on 900 and 1800 MHz frequencies. Signal coverage is good, although intercontinental travel is not supported. All other connections are missing, such as Bluetooth, GPRS network support and a Wap modem. A phone therefore reduced to the essentials for making calls.
Design and features
The classic Nokia Candybar shape immediately gives the idea of a solid phone, resistant to daily use, even in outdoor work environments. The outer surfaces are covered with a rubberized material, which guarantees an optimal grip in any situation. The front houses the screen, a 1.8-inch TFT, capable of displaying up to 65,000 colors. Just below is the clickable directional pad, along with the classic Nokia function keys. The keyboard is a standard alphanumeric one, with well-separated and comfortably sized keys.
Main features
As already mentioned, the Nokia 1616 is a phone absolutely reduced to the bare minimum. The basic platform still allows you to manage the contacts list, a simple agenda for commitments and appointments, alarm clock, calculator and stopwatch. Support for T9 predictive text helps with composing text, so as to quickly send SMS messages. For the voice side, there are instead the voice recorder and support for multiconferencing. According to the specifications, speakerphone seems to be missing.
Entertainment and multimedia
During leisure moments, this 1616 can offer some simple pre-installed games. For the audio side, there is instead a receiver with an AM/FM radio tuner, so you can listen to your favorite stations at any time. You can also manage polyphonic ringtones, to give a personal touch to your device. The interchangeable covers, in Black, Dark Blue, Dark Grey and Dark Red colors, also help with this. Battery life is excellent, lasting up to 528 hours in Stand-by.
