Nokia 1110i review

Network and connections

Nokia 1110i is a Dual Band cell phone: this means that it can work on only two GSM frequencies, specifically 900 and 1800 Mhz. This limits the use of the device to within the European territory alone. This is the only noteworthy feature regarding networks and connections, because this model is completely lacking in anything else. It is not possible to connect to the Internet due to the absence of any kind of connection, from Wap to GPRS to other more current connectivity options. This considerably limits the phone's potential.

Design and equipment

In the usual standard-type monoblock design typical of Nokia's not-so-recent production, the 1110i model has a weight and dimensions that make it particularly pocketable and easy to carry. The covers are interchangeable. 80 grams is the reduced weight of the device, accompanied by a height of 104 mm, a width of 44 and a depth of 17 millimeters. The phone's equipment includes a quick guide, user manual, a Nokia BL-5CA battery and the relative charger. The power battery offers a battery life of 5 hours and 20 minutes of talk time and up to 380 hours on standby.

Main features

The absence of any kind of connection other than GSM for calls makes the equipment of Nokia 1110i poor in terms of features. The only concessions to more sophisticated use concern some optional possibilities during a call. For example, it is possible to activate the built-in speakerphone, to talk while driving, hands-free or in a sort of conference call. Stopwatch and melody composer are two other functions worth mentioning. Messaging supports only SMS, which can be concatenated and stored up to a number of 60. There is a picture message feature for sending greetings and good wishes with images.

Entertainment and multimedia

Talking about entertainment is very difficult when analyzing Nokia's 1110i model, and using the term multimedia is even harder. The only form of amusement possible is represented by the three built-in games: Shake Xenzia, Dice Games and Pocket Carrom. The ringtones are composable, and polyphonic at 20 tones, and are of a quality similar (but not identical) to that of Mp3s, so that the sound can be heard even in a crowd. Clock and alarm, timer, counters, and a monochrome display with amber backlighting, at 96x68 pixels, complete the modest picture.
